Lancaster County, PA: An Epicenter of Progressive Agriculture
Lancaster County is a hotspot of new-school American agriculture.
Many Amish, Mennonite, and other farmers, here, have been turning to organic farming and other non-conventional agriculture to increase profits and to address environmental issues.
More than 100 Lancaster County farmers are now certified organic by Pennsylvania Certified Organic . Other Pennsylvania counties have fewer than 25. Many other Lancaster non-organic farmers are promoting their own Green versions of sustainable, profitable agriculture.
Innovative farming is nothing new here, really. For three centuries, and more, Lancaster farmers have perfected cutting-edge agriculture, to transform our valleys into the the most productive, non-irrigated county in the U.S.
Today's smartest Lancaster farmers are both eco-friendly and profit-friendly. By adopting Green Agriculture, many local farmers have found a market niche that promises a bright future for sustainable agriculture.
Lancaster County's farmers are showing the rest of us that it's good to be Green in the 21st century.
